My fist blog entry....deep breathe...here goes!
I though it only right that I start by sharing one of my favorite paintings by Norman Rockwell. I love this image. I love that you are an outsider looking in, being given the opportunity to share in this glimpse of the moment. I can imagine it would smell of wood and warmth mixed with vintage aftershave and I can almost hear the soft music and low voices interspersed with laughter and fellowship after a long days work.
I look at this painting and I can easily let my imagination cover the shelves with apothecary jars filled with our family soaps and handmade lotions. I imagine a feeling of satisfaction sharing the day with friends and customers who stopped by either to purchase something or just to chat and see what's new. I can see my own family in the backroom sharing time after a rewarding and hard days work.
It's a pipe dream in my reality though! Real life is 3 kids and a husband that need a clean house, clothes and warm meals. Reality is running a business, animals that need tending and never enough hours in a day. But somewhere in my soul, this painting touches the reason I make soap and the products I do. I would love to hear how this painting makes you feel, and thanks for taking the time to stop by...
